The statutory framework mandates that the shell of the fire extinguisher undergoes a Hydrostatic Pressure Test every three years to ensure safety and compliance.

The closefire refilling process

Every Closefire fire extinguisher that comes to us for a refill undergoes the following standardized process
  • Manual Discharge: The fire extinguisher is manually discharged and emptied.
  • Complete Dismantling: The extinguisher is completely dismantled, and the cylinder is de-stressed.
  • Hydrostatic Pressure Test: The cylinder undergoes a Hydrostatic Pressure Test at 30 kgf/cm² for 2 minutes to check for leaks and assess burst capacity.
  • Fresh Painting Process: The cylinder is treated with Static Charge Powder coating, followed by baking in an oven at 180 degrees for 15 minutes, resulting in a durable and high-quality paint finish.
  • New Extinguishing Agent: A new extinguishing agent (powder, gas, water, or foam) is filled into the cylinder using a vacuum-based process, ensuring the exact quantity is filled.
  • New Components: A new discharge fitment mechanism is installed, including all new rubber seals, O-rings, and a hose pipe (EPDM with 50 kg burst capacity).
  • Pressurization: The fire extinguisher is charged (pressurized) with 99.99% pure nitrogen mixed with helium.
  • Leak Tests: The extinguisher undergoes comprehensive leak tests, including an inverted beaker test in water and a Mass Spectrometer Helium Leak Detection Test, utilizing the most advanced leak detection technology available.

Industry refilling process

  • The extinguisher refilling process is often performed by unskilled and untrained personnel in highly compromised environments.
  • In most cases, local vendors only re-pressurize the cylinder, without actually replacing any components. Only broken or dysfunctional parts are swapped out with local spares.
  • Furthermore, the extinguishing agent (ABC Powder) is frequently recycled, with substandard ABC powder being used for top-ups. Reports of marble dust being mixed into the extinguishing agent by local players have also surfaced.

Every Closefire extinguisher is manufactured to perfection at our state-of-the-art facility, adhering to the highest national and international standards. Each Closefire extinguisher must only be refilled by Closefire. Any extinguisher refilled outside our process ceases to be a Closefire product and loses all quality assurances.
